To beat the August heat, this year’s chili cook-off will take place earlier in the day – from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (In previous years, the event was held from 3-6 p.m.). Attendees and fair goers can sample hot, sweet, and spicy chilis for a 25-cent donation and vote for their favorites.
Prizes will be awarded for the Judges’ Choice and the People’s Choice for Best Chili, as well as for the Best Chili Cook-Off Booth at the end of the event. The Chili Cook-Off competitor that raises the most money before and during the cook-off will also receive a trophy.
There will be games & prizes for the entire family, with all the proceeds directly benefitting the Perry County Literacy Council.
Perry County Literacy Council (PCLC) connects Perry County residents with the resources and services they need to become self-sufficient, empowering adult learners so they can thrive and earn a better future for their families. All PCLC programs are 100% free. Programs are tailored to the individual’s needs and delivered via one-to-one tutoring and small classes.
